KEY LOCATIONS

Ares City, Mars

Capital of the Martian Congressional Republic. Population 3.2 million. Home of Foundation Hall, where every MCN career begins. Built in the Valles Marineris canyon system, the city stretches for 40 kilometers under reinforced dome segments.

Olympus Academy, Olympus Mons

The MCN's premier training institution. Built into the caldera rim of the solar system's tallest mountain. Cadets live in pressurized hab modules at 21 km altitude. The view of Mars from the observation deck is legendary.

Deimos Orbital Shipyard

Where MCN warships are built and refitted. The shipyard orbits Mars at 23,460 km altitude, anchored to the moon Deimos. Steersmen train here, walking corridors lined with corvettes, frigates, and destroyers in various stages of construction.

Phobos Fleet Station

The MCN's primary fleet base, built into Mars's inner moon. Phobos orbits so close that it rises in the west and sets in the east — completing an orbit in just 7 hours. The station houses the fleet command, repair docks, and the Systems School.

Ceres Station, Asteroid Belt

Mars's largest colonial outpost. A rotating hab complex carved into the dwarf planet Ceres. Low gravity, Coriolis effects in every corridor, and the ever-present hum of nuclear reactors keeping a million colonists alive.

Callisto Station, Jupiter System

The frontier. Jupiter's outermost large moon hosts the MCN's forward operating base. Communications with Mars have a 35-90 minute delay. Out here, you rely on your training, your crew, and your NCI. Nothing else.

MCN VESSELS
MCNS Meridian
Corvette-class training vessel

Your first ship. Small, fast, unforgiving. 12-person crew. Used for Helmsman and Orbiteer training in Mars orbit.

MCNS Scirocco
Frigate-class patrol vessel

Your first real posting. Patrol frigate working Martian space — escorts, sensor sweeps, orbital security. 45-person crew.

MCNS Ares Prime
Battlecruiser — Fleet Flagship

The most advanced vessel in the MCN. Command School for Voidmaster candidates. 380-person crew. If you earn your place here, you've earned everything.

KEY PERSONNEL

Commander Voss

Academy Commandant

"The stars don't care about your feelings. They care about your discipline — math is how you prove it." Old-school, exacting, respected. Believes in the training above all else.

Steersman First Class Hawkins

Foundation Instructor

Your first instructor. Weathered, precise, economical with praise. A nod from Hawkins is worth more than a medal from anyone else. Teaches Tiers 1-2.

Lieutenant Kaelen

Navigation & Linear Algebra

Brilliant at matrices but struggles to explain her intuition. Sometimes you have to figure out what she means. Teaches at the Orbital Training Center and Phobos.

Renn Cooper

Fellow Cadet

From Hellas Basin. Already ahead of you in reactor theory but can't navigate worth a damn. Competitive but fair. You'll see them on the leaderboard.

"Every officer in this Navy started where you're standing. Every Voidmaster once failed their first pressure reading. The difference between them and the ones who washed out isn't talent. It's persistence."

— Commander Voss, Opening Address, Class of 2119
